“Above the yard”, or Soballera in the dialect from Ostuni. On the farmyard you can live the real life of the rural world: parties, meetings, work, socialization, grudges, music.
The Soballera recreate the typical atmospheres of the traditional music using the characteristic instruments of the folk music (the voice, the accordion, the “battente” guitar, the bagpipe
and the tambourine). In their repertoire there is a continual succession of tarantelle, tammurriate, songs of love and labour, but also of unpublished pieces they composed.
The band assembled in Bari and it boasts numerous live music for parties, feasts, festivals and street events.
In 2017 the Soballera have published theirs first cd Avast!, a musical return trip between the rural Apuglia and the ancestral Lucania. In 2018 the project Avast! won the national prize Ucci Folkontest for the VIII edition of Li Ucci Festival from Cutrofiano.
The members of the band Soballera are:
Stefano De Dominicis, voice, “battente” guitar and castanets;
Francesco Savino, voice (tracks #1, #4) and frame drums (tracks #1, #2, #10);
Salvatore Simonetti, classic guitar, “battente” guitar and putipù;
Giuseppe Volpe, accordion;
Giovanni Emanuele Gelao, recorders and transverse flute, low whistle, overtone flute, dvoianka, italian traditional oboe, italian traditional bagpipes (“a chiave” and “a paru”), chalomeau, clarinetto, irish bouzuki, acustic guitar, sampling e midi instruments.
